Thomas,
Unfortunately, arm twisting for money has become the trademark for certain denominations. IMO, such tactics are inexcusable, and are partly to blame for the negative opinions some people have about Christians. That, and collaring people with the intent to convert them, come hell or high water. In my mind, the duty of a Christian is to let "The Good News" be heard but, not forced upon anyone. I, always, stand ready to talk to any person, about my experiences with Christianity, and the benefits that I have received from it. Before I start, I always make absolutely sure that the person wants to hear my story, and would never blurt it out unasked.

As I have said on numerous occasions before, I do not have much to do with the traditional denominations because, I believe that the Bible has been interpreted by people in these denominations to suit their own agendas, and viewpoints. All that I believe, is found in the Bible, and requires no interpreter. I do like to meet with others in fellowship, and exchange the blessings, and discuss passages in the Bible. That enhances my beliefs. ~H~ gig'em!!

Thomas, it is very interesting what you have seen or perceived regarding tithing. I have been in quite a few churchs and have never seen that. I have seen the minister remind that it is good to tithe, etc.. Generally, I find most ministers I have met are reluctant to talk too much about it. I, personally, feel very good about tithing and have no problem with it. I wish I felt so good about my taxes. However, the Bible also teaches to render to Caesar what is Caesars. In other words, pay those taxes, too. That doesn't stop me from believing my tithes do far more good than my taxes do.
