We have two bay windows with wide window sills, one in the living room and one in the study/computer room. I am planning on putting plant lights over the sills, and bringing in the tender lavender plants this fall.

I also have a fig tree that is still in a pot, and am waffling over whether to just put it in a bigger pot, or plant it outside. I bought it when I thought that the two fig trees I planted last year would not put out leaves, but they finally did. Since I want to plant it next to the southern foundation for protection against the north winds, I will have to cut down something that's already there, or I can just leave it in the pot. What I would have to cut down would be one of the multitude of white azaleas that were planted along the foundation.

The former owner really had no clue about plants, I fear. She planted a rose and a peony right up against the foundation, which leaves no room for the plants to grow outward, and is also under the eaves so that they don't get much rain. The rose is really mangy looking, which is my fault, but I don't want to spray it.
