The whole industry is in total shock about these two patent deals. I have no idea what is next.

Could you elaborate? It's not like this was some act of God, but rather a conscious decision on the part of Toshiba and Hitachi. Why did they make these deals?

Were the deals financially lucrative for those companies, or did they realize they had no choice?
