Why would you rotate into old economy stocks now?

They need to be sold vigorously. PG, HON - they did not fall for company specific reasons only. They succumbed to macroeconomic forces which will steadily get worse.

ike,

These folks are telling the public to jump from the kettle into the fire. If you look at the old economy stocks behavior during economic slow downs they take a 50% hit during the period. A couple of good examples that I was looking at yesterday was DE and CAT. The time to boy these old economy stocks is during the economic slow down where no one wants to buy. IMO, these stocks should get another 50% hair cut after the initial sell offs. The one thing that is true is they more than likely will survive an economic slow down, but at much lower prices.

Joan

Ike:

Interesting article.

Even though I am a tech fraek, I pose a simple question to those who disparage the "old economy" companies.

"Who buys all the high tech stuff from the high tech companies? (g)
