Steve - RE: "HP notebooks, one a K6-2-500 and the other a K6-2-550; both with PowerNow"

You beat me to posting, again. ;)

This is the first time PowerNow! has been available in the market. And by looking at the prices of the notebooks, it seems there is no big extra charge for the technology more advanced than Intel's SpeedStep. Intel just came out with faster notebook Celerons, 600 and 650, but I guess they aren't available in stores yet (big surprise..). Meanwhile, AMD has been quiet and shipped faster mobile K6-2+ parts that haven't even been announced yet, but are available TODAY! It's good they got up to mobile 550MHz, which is as fast as they got K6-2 in desktop. These two new speed grades, 533 and 550, should keep AMD as the retail notebook market leader for a few more months, when hopefully Duron and Athlon notebook versions come out.

Oh yeah, AMD notebooks offer PowerNow! technology in the low-mid range market. Intel's SpeedStep is ONLY available in the high-end. Again, AMD offers performance, not to mention a superior feature, for the masses!

Steve and Thread 533Mhz K6-2+ and Now a 550Mhz K6-2 w/PowerNOW! Where does it end? 700Mhz is starting to sound like IT IS a possibility.
