SunSpot,

"So for a very long time, Intel Itanium will be a Linux thing."

So what you are saying is that there are no free-market generated alternatives for the consumer who wishes to take advantage of Intel's advanced chips. Consumers apparently are expected to simply wait until Microsoft "gets around" to developing a 64-bit OS. Strange that in a multi-billion dollar expanding marketplace there is an odd lack of aggressive free-enterprise development of 64-bit OS alternatives racing to keep pace with Intel development.

Microsoft is a 6V Battery in a 12V car.

Cheers,

Norm
