A bunch of studies have been done, with very few solid results, only piles of opinions. From what I've read:
1. the single best use will be inter(but not intra)city people movement.
2. There are very real concerns about Very high torque or sustained high power applications.It appears the use of diesels in heavy truck land moving & freight trains will not end soon. There are also concerns about enough output for use in very high speed pasenger trains.
3. Use in homes looks like it will cost between 10% less and 250% more per KW than the current electric costs here in the US. This is because of the high difference in cost in different areas here in the US with the greatest + impact in the most rural areas.
