Tony,

I've seen many of your posts on the EMC thread but I think this is the first time I've chatted with you. I had WSW on Friday night but also had lots of noise in the room so didn't hear everything clearly. When Driehaus talked about 5 9s I whipped around and tried to pay close attention. It sounded to me like he had just read the second PowerCosm report Gilder puts out. Have you read the PowerCosm reports? The third one just came out last week, and the first PowerCosm conference was 6/14-6/16, where Power-One was featured. Dollars to doughnuts says most of what Driehaus knows about Power-One came from the PowerCosm.

Greg

Hi Tony, I saw the Dreihaus interview on WSW. What he was trying to convey was the power supply's regulation and reliability. I lost track of all the nines that he was try to express. However, he was talking about reliability numbers that is usually found in aerospace work.

Power-One (P-1) doesn't manufacture UPS systems. They are in the AC to DC, DC to DC, and subsystems power supply areas. If you go back to the web-site, you'll get a good picture of what they do. Since they are now selling heavily into the Telecom markets, the analysts are looking at them as a telecom company...thus the big run-up in the stock.

It's a very good company. Founded in the late 70's and had a management buyout a few years ago, and went public. In the past year they had a number of acquisitions that put them on the map. In the past 6 to 9 months, the stock has had a very nice run. Check it out.
