TC,

I am using an 8e,32e,160s on a 3 min chart. The 160 is equal to your 8 on the 60 min. And I just realized something very interesting, your suggestion of the 40ma has the same relationship as my 160 does, it is 5 times larger than the 2nd MA.

The MACD is a 12,26,9. I am using it to confirm the entry signal and in this way slow down whips. Also to re-enter a trade. When you add a third line you are sometimes taken out of a good move early (with a profit). To re-enter without just getting whipped I use a new entry signal from the MACD. So far that has worked very well.

As for drawdowns, they are very small. My testing shows one losing week in the past 21 weeks.
