Frank- So I gather it's not quite VOD either. It's more like a multi-cast. Runs continuously(which I guess will be 200 or so channels/streams) and the subscriber taps into whatever is being streamed at that time, right? Is that how you believe the VDSL/Television model to function?

It's so hard to get details out of the Newbridge 3DSL(whatever they call it) or the GTE testing, or even US West rollouts. I get tired of reading how fantasic the testing is going with very little details. But I guess that is what PR means.<g> -MikeM(From Florida)

Good discussion, Frank & Mike. I look forward to Dave's info, but hope it understandable. Nevertheless, Frank, I agree with your model. As I understand it, as it was explained to me one time, either in conversation or reading, is that the VDSL will chance handle the video bitstream that the subscriber is viewing at the time and that the "broadcast" stream will "remain" at the RT or other neighborhood device.

You guys are the learned here. I was told that an HDTV signal consumes about 3 channels of bandwidth, not 5. This variance is by a factor of almost 70%, which is something to focus in on. So the question to me then becomes are we talking analogy or digital, and Frank, you seem to address this issue by implying that an HDTV signal consumes the same approximate bandwidth as an analog signal. Is this correct?

What is the bandwidth range of VDSL? The range seems quite broad, and I defer to you guys here for the "full monty" on this issue. Is 25M bps the low end? Is 50M bps the high-end? TIA.
