any informed impressions out there?

hi jim,
how about an uninformed one?

if ya believe in the thin client architecture....ctxs is a stock to own...i have traded the hell out of it for almost a year. amazing how few really understand ctxs' role.

however, with so many lawsuits presently pending, i doubt the stock does much short term, maybe not this year at all. i have it on my buy list for a major correction along with elon.

i think ya gotta bite the bullet and buy both at sometime this year for a long hold. throw wind on that pile too.

the killer app for next year may be voice and speech software....gmgc just got in with ibm and of course lhsp is the other play...not trading stuff...but, again if you think voice apps are in the future, these are the 2...imo.

Citrix's thin client server allows institutions to maximize capacity with out expanding hardware and storage capabilities. It postpones additional expenditures. What does this buy you? Well, it is an expensive solution, but cheaper than expansion alternatives. The long term answer is web based applications and they are growing every day. As more institutions mandate and pay for web based applications it severely reduces the demand for storage and system expansion to accommodate these memory hog programs.

So lets say a year from now web based applications double then the need for Citrix products will be negatively impacted as firms off load memory and storage requirements. Some feel Citrix is holding them hostage and want alternatives and will exercise them the first chance they get.

ps I used to resell Citrix when my client server product could not be accommodated with the existing system. Often I would have to lower my price to fit Citrix in. Web based applications have eliminated our need for Citrix and we were not the only one.

Hi JW,

I spend a fair amount of time on the G&K thread and one of CTXS's biggest supporters over there for the longest time "WAS" Merlin (Mike Buckley). After their latest fiasco of coming in WELL short of estimates and as you mentioned their questionable management, he decided to sell his position. That by itself, speaks volumes to me.

Later,

Joel
