Elmer, re:SETI on older Celeron's beating Athlon.
Actually, you have to look about 20 pages down the list to find a non-overclocked Celeron and its listed way below all of the Athlons. A Celeron 400 on 66 MHz bus takes 10:11 on Win98 ("Rat Bastard"). Compare that with the non-overclocked Athlon 500 scores of 7:15 to 7:54 and the Athlon doesn't look so bad. Running a Celeron an a 124 MHz bus gives superb memory latency, a key requirement for good FFT scores, a big part of SETI. But it is 88% beyond the spec of the Celeron chip and 24% beyond the "BX" chipset spec.

I think there was someone named Elmer who claimed that benchmarks based on the overclocked "BX" chipset were invalid.
