RE:"Nasdaq up, Dow up, AMD down? What gives? Surely not the Intel Celeron announcement...
I know, I know, random-walk... but I just don't understand who would be selling this close to earnings."

For a loss of a better idea I'd say that it's a combo platter.

1. waiting for the FED...
2. The Celeron announcement. Infrastucture available vs no motherboards of major OEMS yet for Duron.
3. Intel getting closer to Willy...
4. Rambus controlling memory...could dampen the enthusiasm for DDR by manipulating royalties...
5. short selling contributing to distribution.

Doug re <<Nasdaq up, Dow up, AMD down? What gives? >>

Simple, Semi's are down.

SOX is the only [edit: "most" is probably better than "only"] relevant index.

the reason, imho, is flash. Bloomerg just posted that cellular phone supplys are getting better which would lead to decrease in prices. While flash component prices are firm the supply is getting much better. Considering that both amd and intel are building new flash plants that may not be good news.....
