david, You have seen the light, as opposed to a number of people including the author of that ridiculous article. MSFT is the dominant software manufacturer and now they will enter a new, rapidly growing arena. It is likely, IMO, that they will become the dominant player in this arena as well. Like you said, the idea isn't new, but its application through MSFT's vision and deployment will change the world once again.

Late to the party? That's a stupid comment by the author and one that has nothing to do with our investment in MSFT. If Dell, being the dominant PC manufacturer and retailer, decided a couple of years from now to enter the handheld market, would people say they were ?late?, or would they say 'now DELL has another terrific avenue to grow sales and earnings'? Of course, the answer is that DELL would be expanding its business and growing in an additional direction that compliments its existing growth. Well, the same thing applies to MSFT as it moves strongly into the .Net arena.

MSFT has a strong growing business in PC software. Now they are expanding their business and growing in an additional direction that compliments their existing growth. IMO, they will dominate this segment of the computing market just as they have dominated the PC software market. It's just a matter of time, and it won't be because of some fictional monopoly. Their superior size, skills and management will take them to the top of this latest endeavor.

Dave

Don't you wonder, at least a little bit, whether the Supreme Court will let them do that?
