64 bit is available today for web-servers, database servers and other server software - in the *nix world. It is only the Windows world that is behind.

And if the Windows desktop technology is not ported to 64 bit, many Windows-based web-servers will still run 32 bit software...

The best processors for desktops, in my opinion, are low-cost, low-heat processors in thin clients. Not Intel-compatible stuff. More and more of the Windows software we create is deployed as Terminal Server solutions. It's just more stable and cheaper to deploy in large scale and on low-bandwidth networks.
