Croc, we have toads emerging. Little tadtoads becoming real toads. They are so small I worry about them.

Yeah! I worry about little toads too...and even big ones. There are a couple of parts of my garden where there are sometimes big toads snuggled down into the earth. I never wear my shoes when I work in those gardens,...just in case I step on a toad. When I'm in my bare feet, I can usually "feel" them under my feet and get the hell off of them again before they get squished. Actually, they always seem OK... resilient... like stepping on a tennis ball or something. I pick them up to check them over, and they just blink their eyes and maybe puff out their throat a bit, and then you put them down and they slowly move back into foliage...
