We made the CBS Market Watch list :)

Track Data Corp. (TRAC: news, msgs) shares soared 24 percent after the company said it received a broker-dealer license from the National Association of Securities Dealers. The company also said it expects its new clearing arrangement with Penson Financial and other cost-cutting measures to have a positive effect of on its bottom line in the third quarter. Track Data shares rose 5/16 to 1 5/8.

IMHO TRAC has too much going for it to stay down at this level. I have been using their paid real-time quote services for a few years and have been mostly happy. All growing companies have growing pains and a few disgruntled customers. Read any of the competition boards and you will find unhappy campers on all of them. The broker-dealer license (and new MM) should be an improvement for customers and customer service. By removing the middle man they are greatly reducing potential problems.

With the NASDAQ level 2 fees droping 75%, more and more investors will be willing to pay for TRAC's level 2 quote service. With consolidation on the way and all the customers TRAC has, it is a prime target for a takeover.

If you think mytrack is their only product look again:

TRAC has continually improved it's products and keeps adding new products. It is the only daytrading software I know of for the Mac platform. TRAC has expanded into the European market. They now offer a special options and charting software.

If TRAC does get their own ECN, we could see a new all-time high.

I feel sorry for Barry and the TRAC stockholders who got caught in the downdraft. Berry is still the largest TRAC shareholder and suffered greater losses than anyone else. I think he will find a way to enhance TRAC's share price. He does have a "track record" LOL.

I actually think the $40 million dollar margin call brought a lot of attention to TRAC's stock and put it on a lot of peoples watch list.

If you believe in TRAC and in Berry, then take advantage of this time to average down.

So, IC, I figured you scooped up the other half of the company at these prices and we should be hearing about the monthly "Online Chat with Investor Clouseau" soon. (Barry could field and screen questions for you.) <g>

Nice to see the company moving ahead and the stock price responding finally. TRAC caught my attention yesterday when I looked and it was up 30%+ intraday. Have you heard anything on responses to the company's solicitation of potential suitors? Just wondering if it generated any interest.

Mike
