Maybe it should be mandatory for everyone who has a job to pay for their own health insurance. A lot of people prefer not to pay for health insurance because they don't get sick very often. We make them wear helmets when they ride motorcycles, why not make them pay for health insurance?

Notice that this would apply to self-employed people, such as yourself. It would basically have the same effect as forcing taxpayers to pay for health insurance for others, it would just remove a layer of bureaucracy.

In the United States, indigent people get Medicaid, so they have health care coverage already. It's the working poor who don't have coverage. Many of them are the young people I already mentioned. But I do know a lot of self-employed people who don't bother.
