Well, sometimes we can see it so very clearly - for example, Isld, one of the favored "poor-fundamental-just-like-Amzn-stocks" here; had a very nice day on Wednesday.

Now, if you go to tradescape.com you will find that 15.7% of Isld's trading volume on Wednesday, 6/22, was generated via tradscape's traders.

Tradescape is just one of the on-line trading site. Not even a "day-trader" site.

Nobody cares about the pieces. You can't buy or short one part of AMZN. That's the whole point of their latest bus plan, to sell everything possible on the internet.

But even their book sales are losing money. Remember, soon they will likely be required by the regulators to post the fulfillment costs as operating costs, instead of marketing & sales as they do now.

Glenn is the expert here, he saw this at least two yrs ago.

I think AMZN has some businesses which might be viable eg books, music, DVD and others eg garden products which will bleed cash until they are shut down.

Amazon is essentially a mail order catalogue. IMHO it will ultimately be modestly profitable in par with LL Bean and Land's End. This is a point I made a long time ago on this thread.

Check Land's End. Price/Sales = 0.82, Price/Earnings = 25.47, Market Cap = $1.05Billion.

If we give AMZN a small premium for growing revenues we get $6-10 per share as full value...
