doug, That is quite true. The celerons have shown themselves quite capable of stealing the food from the supposedly faster and better Intel P-XXX chips by being a better deal for the $$.
Same choice Intel has here. They can lose the sales to the Duron or lose the sales to their own parts. And that is why my bet is a 100 Mhz celeron is coming soon as it is better from Intel's viewpoint to stop the Duron from devouring both the celerons turf as well as the P-III as the Duron is capable is being a contender over a huge speed range. I would go so far as to say they are made and ready now in some volume and they are waiting for the optimum release time to maximize their P-III earnings. As soon as the duron get volume board support they will lose the chains on the 100 Mhz celeron to try to stem the duron tide.
No point letting it out now as it would eat too much P-III turf.
Heads are rolling at intel, I bet.

Is there any truth to the rumor that Intel is manipulating the genes of employees to add an extra 5 fingers on each hand? These will prove to be immensely useful in the inevitable fingerpointing exercises that are looming.
