Does the so-called gorilla you're investing in have high costs of switching?

For people who don't take the time to consider whether or not the costs of switching to a competitor's product are high, consider today's news that Yahoo! will drop Inktomi's search engine in lieu of Google's. And Google with suffer the same fate if a competitor outperforms it. Such is the fate of companies whose products have low switching costs.
