<article: The successor to the AMD Mustang, an unnamed 32-bit core, will begin life at 2-GHz.>

<Does this statement also mean Sledgehammer won't be the true successor to Athlon? I thought Sledgehammer was supposed to be AMD's sole processor after Athlon, and it would do 32 bit faster than Athlon and have 64 bit to boot. But now AMD also has a different 32 bit processor that will come out after Athlon? Or I am just misinterpretating the sentence?>

I think the author got confused here. He heard the right words: Mustang, Sledgehammer, 2GH, 32/64 bit core. But he put them in the wrong order.

Hector probably said:

Mustang's successor is Sledgehammer with a 32/64 bit core running at 2GHz at introduction.
