There is a cost for doing nothing.

Well said, we are reminded of that every time we park our cars and have to lock it. We are also reminded of it when bringing our young children to even the most peaceful looking parks after around sunset.

This is an assumption on your part. I guess you must run your life on assumptions?

I have very little doubt that a small percentage of prison inmates are actually innocent of their crimes.
