J Fieb,

<<Meanwhile, on the back end of the 9900 are 32 Fibre Channel arbitrated loops, allowing connection to up to 96 hard disks per frame. Up to six frames can be connected to a controller unit for a maximum of 512 hard disks. >>

The configuration here is interesting. The controller can have a maximum 512 hard disks and 6 frames. A frame can have a maximum of 96 disks. It appears if you bought a full configuration, 5 frames will have 85 disks and the 6th one will have 87 disks. Or, you can mix and match the number of disks per frame. The point is, you can't have 6 frames with 96 disks per frame which would exceed the maximum 512 disks.
