many of us see these Macro trends and we need to go with the flow, so to speak with them.

Indeed...

Perhaps, the reason why markets have become more difficult and explosive (both, up and down), is due to the combination of:

1. a rapid growth of the world's population around the world

2. accelerated technological development in many key industries.

3. faster communications.

All these have created an environment that is really unknown to us all. Therefore, any possible comparison to recent historical patterns are not "holding" any logic. (Duh ! yes rather obvious -g-).

The references you highlighted illustrate the above. If these, and other countries of the third world were to reach a level of consumption anywhere near the so called "Western World" levels, is giving new meaning to the balance between supply and demand.

The demand side is clear to increase as we can see. The success and pace of technological advances will determine whether we will suffer the effects of inflation given the failure to meet such demand, or... if such technology will give us the efficiency to tame it.

Meanwhile, we will try to figure out who is wining by placing our bets accordingly.
