Jim: From a PM I just sent to somebody:

I see 2 polarized camps. I surmise that RMBS started out trying to do exactly what you wish they were doing, "marketing the "value added" of the IP," and quickly realized they would be rear-ended by the memory makers. Rather than give up, they took a hard line and have had incremental success. Hard to go back to an accomodating position at this point, but one that this s/h would welcome, AS LONG AS INDUSTRY PLAYED ALONG. And if not, then force 'em.

This is pure speculation on my behalf, and rests on the assumption that RMBS disclosed, and memory makers (likely in collusion) tried to take the IP and run. Would PC133 and PC100 and DDR exist (in present form) today if RMBS had not disclosed to the parties (I already voted on this hypothetical, w/ my pocketbook)?

Just my speculation,
