George, read again, the part i was serious about, which was, "we need to see divergent strength in the XAU". that will be the signal of an impending upturn in gold. i'm simply expanding on the leading indicator theory - it has worked extremely well in recent years...every gold rally or conversely gold price downturn was telegraphed by positive and negative divergences of the XAU vs. the gold price.
since currently the XAU keeps going down regardless of gold going up, down or sideways, it indicates no turnaround is in sight as of yet.
however, there have been a few noticeable positive oscillator and XAU/gold divergences from a medium term perspective on the daily chart.
we'll see...my guess is when things finally get going, they will do so surprisingly fast, and the move will be greeted with lots of skepticism.
