dmf, more good news on server growth from Compaq's CEO Capellas(CPQ thread):

Capellas & XRX CEO were on CNBC and discussed their joint non-exclusive deal.
When MC was asked about CPQ's business he talked about how good the growth in servers was and he said that the consumer PC mkt was doing well especially more robust PCs for Internet use.

dmf, <Can you explain WHY Intel is more concerned about UltraSparc than Alpha?>

I guess it's because Sun is the current leader in the back-end server space, and Itanium is currently targeted toward the back-end. So Intel is really putting the focus on the total solution, from hardware to software, in order to make Itanium-based servers more compelling than comparable Sun servers.
