REPEAT/GeoQuest and Network Appliance Sign Worldwide Marketing Agreement
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 27, 2000--GeoQuest, an operating unit of Schlumberger Oilfield Services, today announced that it has signed a worldwide reseller and support services agreement with Network Appliance Inc. (Nasdaq:NTAP - news) to resell NetApp Filers©.

The terms of this new contract, which expand last year's Asia-Pacific region marketing agreement between the two companies, allow GeoQuest to bundle NetApp filers with GeoQuest software and hardware solutions, giving all of its customers the convenience of buying from one source. The NetApp filers -- a network attached storage appliance solution -- simplify data administration, backup, and downloading and increase efficiency with dedicated server support for terabytes of data.

``Because E&P companies spend billions of dollars annually acquiring seismic data, they need a cost-effective solution to leverage that investment,'' said Brad Youmans, vice president of Seismic Data Management Solutions for GeoQuest. ``Network Appliance filers, a proven component of our seismic data management solution, offer that leverage.''

Network Appliance is providing technical advisors to GeoQuest for its SeisLink(a) open systems software product that seamlessly moves seismic data files throughout the seismic life cycle.

``Innovative applications supported by GeoQuest define how E&P companies locate fossil fuels. How these new technologies are deployed depends entirely upon the infrastructure that will support them and this is where Network Appliance continues to excel,'' said Mark Santora, senior vice president of Marketing for Network Appliance Inc. ``The integration of GeoQuest's software applications with our filer and NetCache(TM) solutions should have an impact on how companies approach their quest for hydrocarbons.''
