I agree wholeheartedly. Most press articles that I read are negative on the acquisition because they misunderstand the value that Ascend has added. If you look at Ascend with its traditional remote access marketspace then it is understandable why people are confused. I believe the Ascend acquisition was just a Cascade acquisition but a year and some too late... The value is certainly there for the core switching business. It seems that the data business of Lucent has been squared by the acquisition.

The Lucent rumor mill is ramping up, caused largely
by CSCO whiners.

LOL! LU is now an afterthought at CSCO and on the thread. Where LU was considered a key competitor 12 months ago they are now far down the list. NT is now on top. LU's demise has nothing to do with what is said in the press or at CSCO. It has to do with execution.
