To the thread- if you are raising boys, DO read "Rasing Cain- protecting the Emotional Life of Boys". I knew it would be good, but it's really great. No matter who you are and what kind of boy you have this will help you. I happen to have a very emotional and sensitive boy who has a great emotional vocabulary- which I was beginning to see as a handicap as he enters mainstream society with all those OTHER boys who have no emotional vocabulary. Now I begin to understand that though they can be cruel to my son THEY are the ones who are really at risk. The statistics for young males doing violence to themselves and others are rather staggering- please read this book if you have a boy.
