Dear Tim: As a retired Big 8 audit partner I have to agree with you. Going to be very difficult for audit partners now to bring in new business for as you indicate the "audit" is generally looked upon as a "necessary" evil whereas the consulting often is felt to be a service which pays for itself. I havent seen the new rules but if the limit auditing firms to auditing and taxes not going to be good for them. Like you, I feel the abuses by the MM's far outreach anything the public accounting profession has done. JDN
