When I first saw the question I could only think of two in the top ten who were even around for anywhere close to that number of years: Exxon Mobil and GE. But Exxon Mobil is the creation of a merger of two companies that were around awhile, so that may not count. The modern GE is also to some extent a creature of acquisitions, but I think it has been around and highly ranked in the market cap derby for a long time, so that would be my best guess.

Off the top of my head, I know INTC, MSFT, CSCO and WMT are in the top 10, and they are all children.

Who else? Maybe Citibank(group), but I am not sure they are in the top 10.

You realize my mind will not be at ease until you tell us the answer <g>
