BEIJING/TOKYO (Reuters) - A Chinese trust firm has missed a payment on
a Samurai bond, but a Hainan International Trust and Investment Corp (HITIC)
official held out the hope on Wednesday that the company could still make
good on its obligations.

The incident mars China's triumphant return to the Japanese Samurai market
this week and raises old fears about the strength of its financial institutions,
bankers said.
