German DAX closes higher, Metabox surges 60 pct
FRANKFURT, June 28 (Reuters) - German set-top box maker Metabox AG rocketed more than 60 percent on Wednesday as a quiet German market awaited the Federal Reserve's decision on the U.S. interest rates, due after stock market close.

Shares in Metabox closed 60.66 percent higher at 115.50 euros on the Neuer Markt after the company said it had received an order worth more than one billion marks ($481 million). The company hit an intraday-high of 125 euros.

``Institutional investors do not really take into account how illiquid this company is. When just a couple of them place large orders, this shoots up the price,'' one dealer said. He added, however, that the ``giant order'' justified the surge.

Metabox said it had signed a letter of intent with Scandinavian investment group Inter-Nordic.net to deliver 1.8 million set-top boxes with the boxes priced between $265 and $500.

The total value of the order contrasts heavily with Metabox's sales in 1999, when it posted a turnover of 42.9 million marks ($20.63 million).
