Why haven't they ~ they can't ~ if there was one example it would be well known.

Joan posted a reference to a Stanford Law Review study which apparently discovered a substantial number of such cases, in several of which innocence was apparently confirmed by DNA testing. Haven't read it myself; might be interesting.

Imagine this: one state has 100 people on death row. Detailed independent review proves 10 of them innocent. Another state has 100 people on death row. No similar review is conducted, and all 100 are executed.

How confident would you be that the second state has not executed an innocent?
