I don't remember if the rumors were about out of the money calls. But back around Dec-Jan timeframe there were a rumor posted on one of these many threads that ABX was unwinding or closing out part of it's hedge. I'm pretty sure that it was on CTV-1 then too, which loves to comments on gold rise. I'm sure if Richard got that station he'd be happy to listen to all the pro-gold comments. But there is a rumor floating around that ABX is still un-hedging or locking in its position for:

If I were to post you all the rumors I've heard over the last year, it would fill up this thread. Such as that little rumor I posted a few weeks ago about ABX planning on making a merger with PDG. Some of you may remember the CEO rumor WRT PDG? Seems the previous PDG CEO did not want to merge with ABX under any costs. I stated 1 month before he moved aside that itt was going to happen.
