I am specifying the system through a local dealer (Santa Clara) as a custom built unit. This system will be used for logic synthesis targeting the large CPLDs from Altera and Xilinx ( 1 to 2 million gate devices). The goal is to minimize the synthesis time which can take 6 to 24 hours on a 500 MHz P3 with 256 MB of memory. The main requirements are the 1 GHz thunderbird, 1 GB of memory and a large, fast hard drive. The 1 GHz Athlon with the external L2 cache is readily available ( see price watch) but the 1 Ghz with the on chip cache is not listed yet. Does anyone on this thread know of a source? Regards
