hi eagle,

you are correct, the pab.na2 file is your netscape address book. you ask, "How does one view it?", and i have this funny feeling you are not asking how to open it the regular way, which is to click on 'communicator' then 'address book' (or by clicking on the address book icon in messenger). am i right? because if you are talking about opening the pab.na2 file, everything that you are trying to see (that is looking like a pile of encrypted junk) is already available to you by just viewing the address book.

but fear not, eagle... in case you just have to see what's up with that mysterious pab.na2 file, your question led me to do some investigation that has brought me upon a neat solution. and i say 'neat' because this will serve two purposes... you get to back up your address book (something i thought i was doing by saving the netscape 'mail' folder to removable disk, but i see i was mistaken), AND you get to see the contents of pab.na2.

here we go. open the address book, click file\export, and save it as an .Ldif file. i saved mine in 'my documents' as filename 'eaddress.ldif'. you can save it to a floppy if you wish, to transfer to another machine. later, the address book can be restored with this .Ldif file and the file\import feature.

for viewing this little beauty, you can now right-click it (the .Ldif file) and choose notepad (or netscape) to open with.

nothing to it, huh? <g3>

good luck

:)
