I think that the fall off in Qwest and the collapse of the Worldcom/Sprint deal are not coincedental. Basically, I think we have two things going on here that have impacted Q.

First, the WCOM deal was stopped by the government. So it places a pall on any future buyouts of a telecom, such as Q. So many have sold off and took their profits. Based upon the Yahoo board, which you can take for what its worth, many have invested in Q only for the buyout possibilities. If this looks to be unlikely, I doubt they will hold.

Second, with the baggage of Sprint gone, WCOM is probably going to go up. So many have rotated out of Q and into WCOM.

I think its short term. If earnings come in good, and if the merger goes through, Q will do fine long term. But I think its a good 2 or 3 year investment, not a 6 month monster. JMO
