Hello Bill. The FED finally listened to Larry Kudlov and left their fingers of interest rates. Maybe we can see a little summer rally now. Not a bad start in the NAZ today.

Thanks for that OPEC article.

Yes. WCOM did great, even better than yesterday. But it's still amazing what is happening to this planned merger. The whole thing does not make sense. I still don't like what I am seeing. This EU Monti guy came out today and said they would not let this merger go through, even after WCOM withdrew its merger. Just to rub it in? He also said that this was the first time they nixed an intl. merger. How wonderful. Played right along with our agencies. Your investing money is now on a treacherous road. You never know for sure from which side you will get hit.

Did you listen to Moneyline this evening? If you have not, make sure you listen to the later version of it. Msft vs. Orcl. Wow. This snooping story against Msft is something. I had been thinking of investing in Orcl but I don't want money THAT bad. Snooping in trash. Sheesh. Larry Ellison's PR people are hiring an investigating firm with the fame of one Lenzner for over a year and the CEO does not know about it? I guess he sails too much. I'd rather invest in cos. where I know that the CEO knows what's going on with his company. He says he did not know a thing about it until yesterday. But he stands behind his people. Um, um.

I guess I check on some more news before going off. Talk to you tomorrow. Maybe I check the Msft and Orcl thread. Should be interesting. gg.

Bill. I forgot to post this article about Monti and the DOJ.

biz.yahoo.com

Who knows. My WCOM may go back to its old high with takeover talks. I guess you were too nervous to nibble on WCOM? Only reason I am discussing WCOM with you is that you expressed the desire of possibly buying into WCOM one day. But at this point, of course, caution is still adised eventhough Kaufman upgraded WCOM to a strong buy from a buy today. And it did move. Analysts are saying now that WCOM will grow faster again without FON in the wings. But maybe wireless FON is still in the wings. Time will tell.

Ebbers said he may go out of Long Distance altogether. I wonder if this will make telephone costs cheaper for consumers. Talking about DT. I have been in Germany many times and phone service is EXPENSIVE. My wife used to call her sister from an airport phone booth when we arrived or left and wow, that phone would gobble up money like it was candy. Anyhow. I am not sure if consumers would be better off with a DT connection.
Well, I think I exhausted the WCOM story for now. I will now read the Msft and Orcl thread for entertainment before turning in. gg.

BTW. A little bad luck with QCOM? Bummer about Korea. I heard that earnings in July will tell the story. Maybe Korea will change their mind for the third time about subsidies on telephones. Sheesh. We get free phones over here in wireless if we hit the right promotion. Ugh. I didn't realize that QCOM gets 50% of their earnings from Korea? That sounds pretty darn steep. Correct me pl. I am thinking about buying back into QCOM. One analyst said today you could almost sell QCOM now and buy in lower. I may do that if the occasion arises. I mean buying in if it goes lower. Even here does not look too bad, I guess.

Bill. Funny market again today. Economic growth was updated to .1 higher for the last qtr. So naturally the pundits started talking about more rate hikes again. But, it seems that more and more cos. are reporting lower earnings and all the rate hikes are not even in the economy yet. Let's see how all this works out.

I have to come back again to WCOM. It looks like things may go the way I mentioned yesterday. If cos. are not allowed to grow and competition gets too fierce, they may get out of losing businesses. WCOM has been touted as a cheap stock today if the Sprint deal does not go through. So it's no hair off my skin but who knows how the consumer will fare in the future.

Here is the Congress article. Congress seems to notice what is going on. I don't really know how they can blame Europe alone. I thought it was the DOJ and this Monti guy from Europe talking together. All in the name of competition.

PS. I have no idea what happened to those links. I edited and things doubled. So I went back and tried to take it off. It looks like every time I try to go back and remedy things, another link is added. But at least it's blank. SI worked last night on SI. Hm. Anyhow. Just click on the first row of each link. There are 2 links. Sheesh
