<< I suppose Uncle Fidel could have used coercion, but I would not have thought that necessary. >>

All Cuban families have coercion hanging over their heads 24 hours a day. Either do as the politicians say, or face the consequences.

When you say that "Uncle Fidel could have used coercion", do you mean "increased coercion"? Regardless of how much fun you think that it would be, do you feel that it's fair that the Cuban parents could not object to their children being taken away and sent to a foreign country?

Morning, Karen,

I think I'm developing an affection for the extremism of Newsmax-- a sort of bemused admiration for the way they blithely and with such conviction misrepresent events and will now revise history with a merrily lop-sided version of the Elian affair.

Now what are going to do with this great group of people here? Is there a new issue for us to follow and comment on?
Do we have to start a new thread? Veterans of the Elian Gonzales DIscussion Thread?
