Here's the real data: Life expectancy at birth: total population: 76.23 years male: 72.95 years female: 79.67 years (1999 est.) That makes the United States the longest-lived nation on earth. But that fact is inconvenient, isn't it? We can't point the finger at United States health care based on our wonderful longevity, so the statistics mysteriously morph.
