RE:"That "second half" worries me however. The Register also said "2nd half" rather than "October" or "4th quarter.""

Paul said on the Intel thread that Willy was nearly ready for production...He usually doesn't BS too much about that.
So Willy is not "in" production yet so lets take the best case scenario for a Willy launch. Assuming no problems it's takes about 10 weeks for normal production (no rocket stuff)...just for the sake of arguement lets give Intel a couple more weeks to stockpile a few chips...so that's 12 weeks or 3 months...(remember all this suggests NO glitches)
So even if they started production July 1st that's the end of September before any kind of launch...and that will likely be out of one FAB...
Then there is the problem with the Tehama and RDRAM...
So the Willy launches no earlier than the end of September in very low volume and with RDRAM...
So the launch partners will likely be Dell, Dell, and Dell and maybe a couple other large OEMS...
When you call Dell and order one you will be told 4 weeks...

Meanwhile, Intel rides the MHz bandwagon to the max again and the press gushes all over Intel...

Only AMDs good earnings numbers bring people back to reality...

Petz,

It seems when they are vague like that, they want to launch it in Q,3 but know its a long shot...so they cover their butts with 2nd half....in case a miracle happens.
