That is why religion still exists. It feeds off the ignorant (like the fastest growing religion in the Third World -- Muslim), or the fearful and emotionally weak. The argument you just posited is the old "carrot and stick" scenario designed to capture your mind and eventually reduce you to a babbling, squawking parrot. Read the Old Testament again. If a god exists that is as depicted it is an insane, vindictive god. Not one I would want as my creator, to be sure. But then insane, vindictive men created that god in their own image.
