Dot Wireless is one of the companies that appear's on Dr. J's "Family Tree"
of Qualcomm started companies. They are the consumer products division
of Nextwave. I don't think this is bad for Qualcomm - it signals that TXN
might be more interested in the CDMA arena.

Many at Dot Wireless are ex-Q personnel. In fact, I think the head dude is
one of the BIG Qualcomm shareholders with a single-digit employee
number. I'm not sure you need the same kind of CDMA license to produce
CDMA support products as you do to crank out cellphones. I think you'd
be surprised at how many companies have some kind of CDMA license.

In any case, these guys are definitely connected. In fact, I'd be surprised if
this isn't a one-time gain for Nextwave's bottom line, which can only be
good for Qualcomm, as otherwise it might not generate anything much out
of its Nextwave investment.
