a serious note on suburban Boston cellphone coverage
- two interstate loops skirt Boston metropolitan area
- Rt128 is the inner loop, chockfull of tech firms
- I495 is outer loop, 30 miles from Boston hub
- Boston is best described as a small city surrounded by 96 towns
- each town enjoys political autonomy, thus power to be obstacle
- coverage where I live between loops is pathetic
- large midsection between loops has no Sprint coverage at all
- that midsection sweeps perhaps eight decent sized towns
- that midsection does not have MassPike or big Rt9
- coverage is good on outer loop, inner loop, and main spoke arteries extending from the Boston hub like MPike, Rt9
- I cannot even use my Sprint Qcom cellphone in my home
- I use it when I drive here & there
- Sprint says new tower 3 miles from me in August
- Sprint new towers in Newton, Holliston, Framingham, Marlboro, Ashland -- all soon
- this should alleviate my problem, since a couple are nearby
- Sprint vehemently complains about bonehead town govts serving as obstacles
- Sudbury will not allow a tower ever, a large sqmile block
- Sprint says Chicago started 18 months after Boston, and has sweeping coverage already
- Sprint hates New England local town politics
- much easier to locate towers on Interstates and state highway routes (no local politics)
