This is a simple matter. If Hitachi produces SDRAM, etc. after Jan 1, 2001 they will still have to pay RAMBUS under a 5 year agreement. Hitachi intends to continue producing the microprocessor and microcomputer products which incorporate the SDRAM controllers and on these they will continue to pay royalties.

The new company formed by NEC and Hitachi will have to negotiate a license with RAMBUS.

It is really not confusing....

I am sure that someone with your extensive background has been interviewed by the press many times. When, after your comments are published / broadcast, have you NOT said to yourself: "..that was totally out of CONTEXT! Those tricky little SOB's..."

I would be surprised if you and Mr. Kanadjian have not shared that common experience, although Mr. K's is likely a much more recent event.
