I guess if discussions are going on and the stock is rising the company has to ask for a trading halt. And, presumably, as long as the discussions continue the halt will continue? If it's about a takeover offer - the implication is that it will be a friendly one. In which case the discussions might be along the lines 'how would an offer of $-- per share fly with you?' And if the answer is 'no' presumably the discussions will center around what the parties consider to be fair value. This might not be a lengthy process as management must have a good handle on the potential of all it's properties. There will have to be some feeling out of large shareholders IMO
The fat's in the fire now so - so maybe things will speed up?
