Tekboy, is Mr. Market giving us a message? Could we be closer to the merger than we thought?

I know you didn't ask me but I would think it's the Lehman report, which is extremely bullish with its $150 price target, combined with their praise for GMSTs conservative accounting and statements like: "Gemstar's 100% gross margins and 55%-60% operating margins are unrivaled in the software industry." Makes for thrilling reading... these days.

Four possibilities, in increasing order of likelihood, IMO:

1. The Lehmann report. Useful for a push, but unlikely to be driving this kind of volume and rise, especially days after its release.

2. My brilliantly cool summary of the Gemstar story over on G&K, which convinced many many people to get in quick. Always a possibility given the incredible power of my keyboard.

3. Leaked news of the merger approval.

4. Mr. M is telling us to listen to Teflon:
